What is a Real Estate Associate?

Real estate associates (sometimes called real estate agents) are licensed by the Real Estate Council of Alberta to practice real estate in Alberta. Licensed as real estate associates, associate brokers or brokers, they  work on behalf of buyers and sellers, providing professional, consultative advice and services to help achieve a real estate transaction.

Only real estate practitioners who belong to a local real estate board, the Alberta Real Estate Association and the Canadian Real Estate Association have the right to call themselves REALTORS®. REALTORS® are required to uphold the rules and regulations of the Canadian Real Estate Association, including a REALTOR® Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Practice. The vast majority of real estate practitioners choose to be REALTORS®.
