An Essential Alberta Industry

The real estate industry is a vital contributor to Alberta’s continuing economic strength.
In 2008, more than $22 billion in property sales was recorded by REALTOR® members of the Alberta Real Estate Association.
At the end of September 2009, commercial and residential sales for Alberta totaled more than $17 billion.
Impact extends past housing sales
A 2009 report on the economic impact of home sales in Canada and the provinces suggests that the activity generates more than 27,000 jobs in Alberta. The Altus Group survey estimates that each sale generates $46,000 in additional expenditures, including professional fees, insurance, renovations, furniture, appliance and soft goods purchases.

Between 2006 and 2008, those home sales helped create more than 202,000 jobs across the country.

Alberta's provincial motto is "Fortis et Liber", which, in Latin, means strong and free.

Alberta's official colours are blue and gold.
