Grande Prairie REALTORS® Rock!

Saturday marked an important event for the Grande Prairie Youth Emergency Shelter Society (GPYESS). The REALTORS® at EXIT Realty Discovery hit the -20C weather and rocked in rocking chairs for the day in their parking lot on the corner of 100 & 108 Ave. Local business rallied to help EXIT raise the money by donating a snow blower to give away(SEARS), provided a fire pit & firewood for the day (gpfirewood.com), and thanks to Esquires and Starbucks those in attendance had hot cocoa and coffee for any who dropped in to donate. The local radio station Rock 97.7 also had an “on the spot” location at the event, to help bring people by. EXIT also donated a 5 day 4 night Caribbean cruise for one lucky winner. Our Mayor Dwight Logan was in attendance and the event featured a flaming BBQ, Snow shoe races and attendees were entertained by a local street performing juggling act. The event raised in excess of over $7000 for the shelter, and EXIT plans on this being an annual event.  This event was about Grande Prairie citizens showing strong community leadership in the Peace country and putting their generous spirit into action.

Broker, Brian DeWeese was the undisputed parking lot show shoe racing champion; with only a few loses on his record we have hopes of him making the Olympics some time in 2050.
