Real Estate Associate

Most real estate associates in Alberta choose to become REALTORS®.

REALTORS® are licensed real estate associates who agree to uphold a common Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Practice and are subject to the Canadian Real Estate Association’s rules and regulations. REALTORS® are members of local real estate boards, the Alberta Real Estate Association and the Canadian Real Estate Association. Only members can rightfully call themselves REALTORS®. Real Estate Broker

After two years of being licensed, a Real Estate Associate is eligible to become licensed as a Real Estate Broker. Brokers can own their own business and employ other Real Estate Associates.

Mortgage Broker

Interested in becoming a mortgage associate? The Mortgage Associates Program is offered by the Alberta Mortgage Brokers Association.

Property Manager

Interested in becoming a property manager? Property management courses are available through the Real Estate Council of Alberta. Click on the link for more information.

Real Estate Appraiser

Interested in becoming a real estate appraiser? You can take an appraisal course from a recognized institution such as the Alberta Association of the Appraisal Institute of Canada, the Canadian National Association of Real Estate Appraisers or the Alberta Assessors’ Association. After you take and pass the course, you then apply to the Real Estate Council of Alberta to be licensed.
