Who We Are

The Alberta Real Estate Association (AREA) represents the interests and concerns of 10 regional real estate Boards/Associations and more than 10,000 Alberta REALTORS®. We provide strategic leadership and advance the Alberta real estate profession through member-centric advocacy, professional development and provincial services.

Our work focuses on three high-value areas for REALTORS® across the province:

Advocacy

As the professional association for Alberta REALTORS®, AREA is in a unique position to advocate provincially with a singular voice on matters which have the potential to impact REALTOR® careers, their daily work lives, and their ability to effectively serve their clients.

AREA is a critical and influential voice bringing front-line REALTOR® input regarding client needs and desires to industry evolution discussions with the provincial government and other key industry stakeholders.

In addition, AREA provides a provincial perspective on real estate matters directly to the public, when appropriate, to help the public understand a REALTOR®'s expertise and the valuable role they play in the success of the industry.

Forms

AREA supports members by providing standard real estate forms for use by Alberta REALTORS®, as well as training and resources which aid in the understanding and use of these forms in transactions. From time to time, forms require updates or changes; AREA manages that change process to ensure forms are up-to-date and as easy to understand and use as possible while protecting the legal integrity of the transaction.

Professional Development

AREA provides a variety of continuing REALTOR® professional development options to raise the standard of practice among Alberta REALTORS®. Life-long learning allows REALTORS® to enhance their careers and helps them to better serve their clients.

Member Benefits

AREA members receive access to a number of services which can enhance their practice. Included are:

  • AREA Wireless, a mobility program for REALTORS®, family and friends offering a $50 per month cell phone plan.
  • Data Co-op, a tool offering Alberta REALTORS® the opportunity to see details on all active listings in the province, as well as sold properties dating back three years.
  • Crown Lands Program, an opportunity for REALTORS® to apply to list available Crown Lands properties through Alberta Infrastructure.
  • Al Larson Memorial Scholarships, for children or grandchildren of active Alberta REALTORS® who have achieved first-time acceptance into a university or college/technical school program.
